Non-destructive testing of the jib crane

10. 25 , 2019

Non-destructive testing is the use of ray, ultrasonic waves, etc. to detect internal defects such as welds inside the steel and metal structures, and to sense the inside of steel materials. In general, non-destructive testing is common used in the jib crane manufacturing process and is used to control the quality of machining and welding.

When the jib crane is welded, it is limited by the welding process and the field equipment, which may cause a certain deviation in the quality of the welding, lead to the problems such as pores, slag inclusions and cracks of different degrees and different quantities in the weld. These defects will affect the stiffness, toughness, etc. of the jib crane's metal structure and reduce the jib crane's performance.

In order to reduce the defects of castings, parts and welding processes, ensure the safety performance of the jib crane, the defects can be detected, positioned and quantified by non-destructive testing to improve the safety of the jib crane.
